To make a long story short, Iām 25 and never had insurance before. I was taken to a doctor maybe three times as a kid due to neglect. Most of my experience with doctors have been urgent care where I paid out of pocket.
I recently got a job with really good insurance and got my card today. I have a lot of issues I want to get worked out but Iām not exactly sure how. In terms of therapy, I feel like itās easier to navigate blindly bc they say on the website what insurance they take and all that, and you just get a consultation to see if theyāll take you as a client, but I honestly donāt know how PCP doctors work at all.
E.g., I keep seeing ads for a medication that might help me but you need a prescription. Do I just roll up to a doctor and be like, āhey I wanna try thisā. (Itās not a controlled substance, itās wegovy, for reference.)
I also find the card somewhat confusing. Thereās a lot of information on it. I see the insurance logo but when I go on PCP sites, thereās subgenres of carriers and shit.
Iām so lost but I just want medical attention lmao
