Follow up/bonus question: If this does in fact happen, what is the likelihood that this measure won’t stand/will be repealed, overturned, etc?
I’m a guy in my late 20s, and like a lot of people, I’ve been watching recent developments and changes in our country with great concern.
Since the overturning of Roe v Wade, I’ve read/heard quite a bit about how that was just the tip of the iceberg, and that restrictions or bans on contraceptives will be what comes next. I understand that train of thought, as it does seem like it would be the natural next step for anti-choice politicians to endorse.
However, I have also heard/read that overturning Roe v Wade was looked on unfavorably by many on the right, as well as the left, and that restricting access to contraceptives would just be an unpopular policy across the board, regardless of party.
I am having a really hard time parsing out what the actual likely outcome of all of this could be. I try to stay informed, follow politics, learn about law and history, but the answer to this question is just too complex for me to figure out on my own…
Would anyone more knowledgeable than myself be able to provide an answer? I understand it’s a massive question with a lot of nuance, and that of course none of us can actually predict the future. I’d be grateful to anyone who is just willing to take a shot at giving a legitimate answer. Thank you very much.
P.S. I hope that regardless of how polarized politics feel right now, this might potentially be an issue that we can all find some common ground on. Peace and love everybody.
