When will MLB umpires no longer be needed for balls/strikes calls?
Post Body

Disclaimer up front - I’ve never played organized baseball so I might be missing some nuance here but still…

Technology has been easily integrated into most professional sports and it seems the reliability factor is high enough to trust overturning or affirming calls via instant replay. So why not baseball? Every MLB game I watch has the superimposed strike zone clearly visible and every pitch tracked. When will MLB umpires be deemed superfluous in deference to the same tech used elsewhere? Are they just there for managers to yell at and to sweep dirt off home plate??
