Do schools keep an archive of all our work?

Just wondering because I want to know how admissions curate classes and what to talk about and “indoctrinate” a belief among students, until we graduate and work and/or do internships in regard to what best matches our “education / psychological makeup” and how the next cohort of classes or generations are again, indoctrinated.

I’m also interested because I’d like to do research on my grandparent that went to an elite university and I would like to see if I could read his records (that’s if, schools keep records)
