Is it normal to be more depressed with pet cats?
Post Body

M 19. I have had animals my whole life and love them. I currently have two cats. One was my old room mates and she moved out and didn’t take the cat with her the other I adopted 2 years ago. I have autism and some pretty severe PTSD so sleeping with an animal at night helps me feel safer. Don’t get me wrong I love my cats but they drain me mentally. I play with them multiple times a day, give them attention, food, water, change litter box daily, I also don’t force interaction or holding because with cats you have to respect their boundaries. My cats will rip all of my belongings to shreds and break everything. I genuinely can’t have anything or it will be destroyed. All night they jump on things and find something to break. 4am-5am my cat meow screams at me and I barely get any sleep. I can’t even let them in my room. Barely getting sleep and dealing with all this is too much for me. I made a choice to adopt my cat but I have never experienced two cats ever like them and was not expecting this and I’ve had many cats. Any advice? Is it understandable to feel this way?
