Do people feel an emotional response to cute things or loved ones on seeing them?
Post Body

Sorry if this isn't the best reddit. All the ones I could think to ask like r/psychology had rules that stopped me from asking.

I've been talking about emotions a fair bit with my therapist lately. Mainly as I feel I don't really have them. Of course he is reluctant to talk about himself or what is 'normal' so its kind of hard to get a read on what I should bring up or emphasise.

But from the impression I get, people on seeing a cute kitten or a loved one get an emotional/ mental response. I get nothing. It's just like looking at a blank wall. Of course the same is true for bad things, having seen some unpleasantness in my life I also don't have an emotional response to it.

I'm not looking for diagnosis or treatment or anything. Just an understanding of how people experience emotions or don't. Like, perhaps I'm just over thinking it and people being all "he is so small and cute!!!!!" is more a learned/ cultural thing than a response to feelings.

Thanks
