Does anyone know what the odds of a random pilot landing on a space station with a living ship are?

I just had it happen twice, back to back. One landed, so I assumed it was a player as Im in the galactic hub's system. A Gek npc spawned out of it so I went to talk to him and could buy it for 2.9 mil. I of course did and then 5 minutes later while trying to research the odds of that another one landed and then took off again almost immediately. Its a full real living ship, S class, 22 slots. Ive never seen this happen before let alone twice in a row

Edit: Adding a link to a video I saved of it happening.
