Can’t color interior of capital ship

I’ve been trying to recolor the interior of my capital ship/ base of operations but several corridors and rooms seem to revert their color back as I go to color another area. Do I have to delete the room and build it as the desired color instead of just editing it? I can’t seem to find any discernible variables or causes other than they seem to do it when I run to the other side of the ship and they are out of view.
