Cant Spawn S Class Freighters since last patch

OK, trying to confirm something.
I know the old trick of reloading a manual save before a freighter fight to try and get an S-class Freighter to apper. does this still work. i'm upto 80 runs on 1 freighter and it just wont pop as an S-class.
Did they disable this or is RNG just royalling messing with me?
