No Ship at Distress Beacon

While exploring a new planet I came across a Distress Beacon for a crashed ship. I made my way towards it and no ship was there but the outline was, so I told myself it just needed to load in. Well, as I arrived it was still not in sight, just the outline. Is this a bug or was it supposed to be like that? I've never been to this planet or system before and I'm the one who discovered it.
