Came back for the first time in a while... most of my stats/progress has been reset?

I used to play the original NMS, and briefly checked in when bases were released. Since then, I notice that my Atlas path has been reset (I was at 10 of 11, dangit!) and I had none of the words I had previously collected. I have 266 hours counted on Steam, but only ~85 on the "last save file". My ship, inventory, etc. are (mostly) the same.
Was there a progress reset?
