Are you content with the amount of crafting in the game, or do you find it lacking?

Just wondering the thoughts on crafting for those that have played.
I have watched a lot of the game streamed, and to me it seems pretty barebones and lacking in terms of crafting but maybe I am wrong?
It seems rewards from NPC's and stuff just give you the same recipes over and over half the time. Is this true or are they actually different variations.
