After following this subreddit for a time, and striving as a fapstronaut myself, I've realized that relapse is more complicated than a mere clock reset, a ground zero wherefrom we climb once again.
When (or if) you relapse, try to quantify the damage you exact on your brain, mood, and attention, and strategize. Know that no fap is the same. A 2-hour binge with 300 naked ladies will do far more damage to your brain through novelty and sexual arousal than a 10-minute fap to 1 woman. And even less so if to no porn at all. If you are tempted to relapse and do succumb, at least try to hedge against the damage by opting for softer content. The recovery will be easier.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning "soft faps" or anything of that sort. What I am saying is that this model of fap and you're back to zero is psychologically inaccurate. Sometimes if you slip, it's more like halving your timer than obliterating it. If you are so tempted, do your brain a favor, and tone it down a little. Plan for a less destructive failure. That way you can get back up, wounded but not mortally so; like a scar on one's chest, to rise up and embark on thy quest.
