So I’ve started to workout a lot and Instagram started recommending videos and people to follow. At first it what great! I was given new routines and exercises, it helped me with my form, and it gave me motivation! But the algorithm does what it do and slowly but surely it became less about providing educational content and more about the thirst trap. Eventually half of my vids weren’t even about the gym, just people looking attractive. And look, I’m not one of those people on here who are part of the he-man-woman-hater club (well, I’m bi but the algorithm doesn’t pick up on that too well) for people who get their bag by being attractive online but it got out of control and almost broke me a few times. Eventually I took back control and spent a loooong time cleansing my feed and retraining the algorithm to go back to other topics I’m interested in but hell! Be on your guard folks, sex sells but the price you pay is rarely worth it. Social media thrives on addiction and they’ve spent decades researching the best ways to effectively get you hooked on your worst impulses.
