Hello! I know B12 is a big topic here and even outside of the Nitrous scene it is something that is very overlooked in life. When it comes to Nitrous though, I space out my sessions about 7-9 weeks usually and have never had a problem (other than 1-2 day hand soreness, very minor stuff, a headache once but most likely not directly related). However, I decided that after a 2 month break I would do it again in two weeks because I wonât get a chance to for another 5-6 months. I read up on B12 and Nitrous a lot as I like to be cautious, my current levels are ~930, and as someone who again, has not had any major (or close) health problems with Nitrous I would like to share my knowledge in hopes it can help a few people. B12 is VERY important. As youâve read, your body stores it in the liver so problems arise from daily use for months on end, I would still definitely recommend AT LEAST a 14 day break but preferably more. Now when it comes to B12 and the limited science behind it, Nitrous doesnât âstopâ your body from absorbing it as the half-life is very short, however it, in laymanâs terms, renders some of the B12 in your blood unusable. My biggest piece of advice and something that has tremendously helped me is cutting the mindset that âmy body cannot absorb B12 thus I wonât take it for a weekâ, no! Take B12 after the session before sleep (sublingual B12 tablets, go crazy you canât overdo it (not really)). Take it when you wake up the next morning and the following days take 2-4,000 a day. There will most definitely be almost instant relief because the new B12 you are introducing can be used by your body, even if through tablets it is not absorbed the best, your body needs all the B12 it can get (again this goes for things other than Nitrous).
TL:DR: Yes, you can absorb B12 almost immediately after a session, take large amounts of sublingual methylcobalamin in the days following the session and you will notice a big improvement in most âsymptomsâ as well as staying healthy/feeling better in general. (All information provided is my own extensive but limited scientific research and personal experience. I have been using Nitrous recreationally for ~3 years and I play a professional sport, train 6 days a week usually, travel for tournaments a lot, which requires a very healthy body and Iâve found that following some guidelines and respecting the substance can absolutely minimize the risks and side effects).
