I've binged on nitrous on numerous occasions (mainly with LSD but sometimes just stoned). My ritual while I'm waiting for the high of other drugs to come on is to take my box of 50-100 chargers and dispense 4-5 canisters into my Punch balloons, twist & clamp them shut until the box emptied.
My breathing ratio would be one deep inhale (like how people "ghost" weed), followed by three full breaths of air, which by then I can already feel it out a bit, then repeat as necessary. The effects I've noticed so far have been:
Mentally: Trip consistently ramps up for a couple minutes, sometimes the energy will bring on some giggles and feels more like a place of "nervous excitement" than euphoria, but usually I feel a mood lift. No epiphanies, or as much dissociated from my surroundings/identity as I've gotten from from DXM, THC and Salvia before.
Visually: OEVs on LSD become bolder-colored, patterns get quicker and more noticeable, and at a moderate level of both drugs, something will superimpose over my eyesight, like a mirage, but it's always too foggy to make out and fades really fleetingly. CEV are like sharp shapes, like those after-images when you look away from a bright light you stared into, but with faded edges scattered against a black backdrop. I get some change in sounds, like music and noises come off "processed" in some electronic-type way, but I've never gotten those famous "wub-wub" / "nang" sounds that's been described, which is a shame.
Physically: My limbs will feel lighter at first, but when I'm really going for it, my body will feel overly too stimulated and heavy-feeling, like I'm on the verge of exploding. Doesn't feel good, as if I may trigger a panic attack if I pile anymore before the anxiety settles. Also have to mention as someone with chronic pain (treated by gabapentoids or opioids), must admit the anesthetic aspect of it took the edge off, although obviously that is what the intended use is.
Am I coming into it with too many expectations, or are there any pointers you can give with my approach to using it? I've wondered if the nitrous expires in the balloons, but I can definitely taste it on the exhale, plus my voice gets lower, but as a drug it's been less abstract an experience than what I've been used to reading about. I definitely enjoy it, and by itself still find it kinda trippy, it's just that I feel I'm getting less from it than the average fan on here or subreddit Drugs have reported.
Two final questions: Does nitrous in a dentist setting differ much from the effects of what you'd get using wippets in succession at home?
