My shifter boot is loose (need advice)

It's a 2016 Nissan pulsar (C12 ST)
The part of the shifter boot that connects to the shifter knob isn't sitting tight (like it's supposed to) this is evident because there's a piece of elastic inside the top ring part.
Ive been told to maybe replace the whole shifter boot (but that seems like alot of work, is there something I could do instead?
