About to start my 1st playthrough of Nioh, any advice?

I don't mind getting anything spoiled as I personally enjoy my time with these kinds of game better with prior knowledge than a blind playthrough.
I know they're not the same games, but just for context, I've beaten Bloodbourne/DS3/and Sekiro (my favorite being BB). So I'm sure I have to unlearn some things.
What things do you think I should know before getting started? The whole stance thing seems really confusing to me especially.
