Disclaimer: I just beat this boss without summoning help. Beat it with the hatchets that were blessed.
I think the general concept of the boss is great but the gameplay mechanics were poorly executed.
His rush attack's hitbox is slightly too big which causes you to get clipped by the attack from time to time when trying to dodge (not run to the side of it). It feels like his attacks do too much ki damage, even while in mid-stance.
While in the yokai realm I think the snake adds have a little too much health. Is anyone aware of a weakness that I might be overlooking? I recall in the Umi-bozu fight the adds were weak to fire so you had a way to deal with them quickly.
On a more general note I do like what Nioh 2 is trying to do. The addition of bosses taking you to the yokai realm and changing their attack attributes is great and I welcome the change but there needs to be some way of balancing out the debuff more effectively.
Thoughts?
Edit: just beat it again. Ki damage is great for this fight. If you can kill on snake arm you can essentially run away from the other snake while attacking the boss. Died only because I got grabbed.
