Does the Nintendo Switch signal the end of the ‘Nintendo Charm’?

Post Body

Hi everyone,

Really curious to see what everybody else thinks about this. I’ve been a lifelong Nintendo fan and continue to be. I do love my Switch, and I have a blast playing Animal Crossing, Pokemon, and a load of other titles.

However, I recently got my 3DS collection out (multiple 3DS’s and A LOT of games) and it reminded me of the ‘Nintendo Magic’ I’ve always felt. The goofy UI, the awesome themes, the eShop music, the 3D function... all of Nintendo’s consoles have had a ‘fun factor’. The DS started a dual and touch screen legacy, the 3DS added 3D to gaming (still blows my mind how good it was), the Wii was a masterclass in motion controls, but the Switch really doesn’t have that ‘magic’. It feels like another mainstream console with some great games, but it doesn’t give me that fuzzy warm feeling I’ve always felt from Nintendo. Also, many unique titles like Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright etc that were developed with the 3DS in mind no longer have a platform.

Would love to hear people’s thoughts!
