If you were a fan of wrestling and videogames in the early 90s, then you most likely remember WWF WrestleFest.
For wrestling fans my age, Wrestle Fest is the Aristotelian ideal of a wrestling game. It's easy to pick up and play (the moves are all really intuitive; you don't have to memorize a bunch of button combinations), but it also has that repeat playability that any fighting game should have.
About a year ago, I started hearing about this company creating a game inspired by WrestleFest. The wrestlers featured in it are a great combination of retired wrestlers and current independent wrestling stars--basically the best roster you could hope for for a game not put out by either WWE or New Japan. And based on the videos they've been posting, it looks like they've retained all of the things that made Wrestle Fest fun.
In a weird turn of events, RetroMania recently entered a licensing agreement with Technōs Japan, so it went from being a game inspired by WrestleFest to an official sequel.
They're doing preorders for Switch and Steam now--the Switch version is digital, but if you pay an extra $5, they'll send you a case with an instruction booklet and stickers.
I am very excited for this game! I hope lots of people buy it so that they make more sequels and DLC. I also hope it doesn't suck.
