So my girlfriend and I really want either the Wii U or the Switch and neither of us can decide where to fall on this purchase. I want you guys to inform me of your opinions on which is the better option.
I don't intend to hate on the Switch with this post, and if it comes off that way I do apologize. I want to hear some valid reasons, beyond Zelda, to purchase this console over the Wii U.
I say this because the big draw with the Wii U is it's backwards compatibility. It's not the system we want so much as the library of games from it's generation and before it. The switch certainly looks better but I see something else about the system that pushes me towards the older one. The lack of backwards compatibility and the small HDD space couple with the inability to transfer save data to a micro SD sound like a terrible combination, though I admittedly am unaware of the existing games save files sizes to truly judge that. It does bother me that there is the possibility of losing that data should something happen to the system itself.
The biggest issue I have with the Switch though is it's arguably shitty game library for the foreseeable future. Yes, Zelda is a breathtaking game, stunning in all the right ways, and a 10/10. It's just one game though. And 1 phenomenal game does not make a good game library. There's little to nothing else for the system until the Holidays from what I can see. So we're essentially paying $360 for Zelda.
