Winterfell
The seat of House Stark, Winterfell is the capital of the North and the former seat of the Kings of Winter. It sits astride the kingsroad that runs through the North from the Neck to the Wall, at the edge of the wolfswood and not far from the White Knife.
Winterfell is a huge castle, built around its godswood and over a hot springs whose water is piped through the walls to keep the castle warm during the cold months of winter.
Even in summer, the North is not warm, and occasional summer snows can fall over the castle without doing much damage to the agriculture of the lands around the castle.
