Sorry to admit this to the NIKON crowd, but all my reseach pointed me to updgrade my complete set of gear to the Canon R7 for which I bought three lenses to make this now my primary camera.
My conundrum is my last camera, a Nikon D80 still works perfectly but it is old technology. It probably has less than 16000 shutter count. More importantly, I invested about $5000 into lenses for it which brings me to consider buying the D7500 as a secondary camera so I can leverage the glass I have.
I will be retiring to Colombia, South America within the next two years and want to reinvent my photography hobby to start a blog on "Living in Colombia" as well as pick up a little spare change doing landscape / wildlife and perhaps some for-hire gigs (I have about 10 weddings done for family through the D80).
With this background, here is my QUESTION regarding a backup/secondary camera:
Do I buy a D7500 or just keep using the D80 for 2nd camera?
UPDATE: Based on the comments so far, I think I can already make a choice - - > stick with a single set of gear, so since I am now Canon, I will be "all in" on the brand after 50 years being NIKON (first camera was a Nikkormat FTn).
The D7500 would be a HUGE upgrade to the D80 but comparing the specs from the D7500 to even a new Canon R50 (for about the same price as a good used D7500), the R50 is another step above the D7500. In short, I will sell my old gear but keep the D80 with a favorite lens and convert it to an IR camera for around $300.
THANKS EVERYONE!
