Five years of call handling in my current job without a prospect for further promotion led me, at the end of last year, to fire off a bunch of applications to ambulance services all across the country, and in August I went through an application process which has culminated in me starting with one next week.
I've been househunting in my new city this week and this evening I did my last shift in my delivery job and now I'm in the call centre for the final time. The new job will involve nights, but I will be on a shift rotation and will work days too, unlike here which has been 4 nights a week for a long time.
I will miss the long hours redditing and bullshitting and clock-watching, I look forward to some kind of career structure and also a job with a degree of challenge. I look forward to living in an amazing, true world city and all the opportunities that will come. I've had some lovely cards and gifts off my colleagues in both my jobs and I will truly miss them all.
To new beginnings...
