I left behind my Nigerian passport when leaving my abusive mother. Is it easier to get a new one or should I try get police to take it from her?

Post Body

I'm a Nigerian and Irish dual citizen. I escaped my mother who was sexually abusing and sex trafficking me last year but I was only in possession of my Irish passport at the time of escaping.

My mom normally kept both of my passports but I had to renew my Irish one to apply to university in Ireland and the UK. When it came in the mail I acted casual and took it to my room and she never asked for it back (she's fairly forgetful).

I've been making do with my Irish passport, but when filling out forms and stuff and it asks for all citizenships I write down both Irish and Nigerian. So far I haven't been asked to prove my Nigerian citizenship though.

Either case it has been a stress on my mind that I don't have my other passport and I would like to at least visit home some day, or get married to a Nigerian man and possibly move back home, and I'd prefer to do that with ease and simplicity. And since escaping I've been able to get my life more together.

I'd been looking at the reviews for the Nigerian embassy in Dublin Ireland and it seems that people don't get the help they need anyways. I'm still willing to try but I'm wondering if it's just better to go to London instead since I can enter the UK freely as an Irish citizen.

Or should I not bother with that and just try to ask the Gardaí (police) to seize it from my mother, since it's not safe for me to break my no-contact with her, as even a third location could be walking into a trap.
