Hello,
I posted a few days ago that my phone keeps prompting me to install the February 2016 Patch. When I click install, it goes through the motions of starting the installation and you will see the little Android robot with gears spinning. It then suddenly stops and you get the dead robot with caution symbol and Error!
In my previous posting, I got a reply from one kind individual who suggested using the boot loader to clear Cache. When that didn't work, he suggested flashing factory image. Mind you, I am 100% sure my phone was already factory because I have been the sole owner of this phone and I never tinker. However, I gave it a shot anyway with the hopes that it would fix whatever was messed up.
- Flashed factory following this FAQ http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
Hooray for not bricking my phone as it was my first try.
My phone is definitely stock as I flashed it today with the latest available hammerhead image. 6.0.1 (MMB29Q)
I'm 100% sure it was always stock before I did anything today because I have always been the sole owner of this phone (purchased brand new). Previously, never unlocked bootloader.
The weird thing is...I look at my phone and it is definitely NOT running 6.0.1 MMB29Q like I chose but is actually running 6.0.1 MMB29S after flashing. This is why it still keeps asking me to update my phone. Not sure why or how since I definitely downloaded the correct image unless I somehow epic failed at flashing but I would think I would have a bricked phone then.
I have done both of these things and still have this error. I would appreciate any additional advice.
The only thing I can think of trying is to lock the bootloader, which I haven't done yet but am working on it. Would an unlocked bootloader affect ability to install an update??
Locked the bootloader and same result. :(
