The kids round here are actually vile. Kicking doors, throwing bricks at houses, throwing rubbish and toys round the street and the language coming off some of them is disgusting. Police do nothing, council do nothing and trying to get their parents to come to the door cause you donโt know their name or where they live is an actual nightmare. Going to start taking their trainers off them if catch them, might get their parents to come out the house then.
Three years in West Denton was enough to make us bugger off to Canada :D
It's a little sad because I really like Newcastle, but we just couldn't afford to move to a nicer part, and with kids kicking our door every day and drunk people having arguments on our porch, we just had to find a way to get out of there.
Yeah, every time someone is like "[X] suburb/town is actually quite rough these days", it's good to have some solid evidence to say "yeah, but is it this rough though?"
Oh for sure - it's both way hotter and way colder here, and I generally do prefer the mild Newcastle perma-overcast weather. And if you're in Toronto or Vancouver, you're screwed. But there's niches we could find here that were harder to find in the UK. If you have to live fairly remote, the highways are pretty wide and in good condition - even in fairly remote areas - and gas is under ยฃ1/L.
