At the end of play on March 26:
The Isles trailed the Flyers by seven points, the Capitals by six points, the Red Wings by four points, and the Devils by one point. They sat 11th in the East, just three points ahead of 13th.
Now, against almost any rational expectation, they end this night in a playoff spot, having totally erased a once-insurmountable gap in a span of just nine days.
Whatever the next two weeks bring - it’s been an absolute hell of a ride. What’s clear is that we did not go quietly into the night. This team didn’t merely roll over and accept their fate. They are fighting and you can see the hunger to win.
However much of a mistake I am making, and maybe I should know better as an Isles fan - I believe again. And I think deep down, we all do. We may be afraid of getting our hopes up only to be let down, perhaps brutally. But I’ve learned something important along the way: there is no reward without taking a risk. Whatever happens, this team is going to give them hell, and we need to be right there with them.
LETS GO ISLES!!!!
