Ladies and gentlemen of Islanders Nation: it is time for the white flag to come down. The enormity of tonight’s win, against a powerhouse of the league in their own home arena, cannot be overstated.

We have pulled off a stunning upset win against the Dallas Stars, a bona fide Cup favorite. We did it on the back of Sorokin’s outstanding goaltending, an impressive display of secondary scoring we have long awaited, and a performance by our top line that showcased its true brilliance.

Tonight may well have been the turning point of our campaign. It at the very least suggests the possibility that the long slow march to the offseason might instead be an invigorating race for the playoffs with the potential for unimaginable glory at the end.

Let me be very clear. Much remains to be done. Tough opponents remain. We must rain fire and fury upon them all. With consistent play and increased confidence, we can compete with the mightiest of foes.

With these two points safely in the bag, we march on to Detroit with our heads held high, and our playoff aspirations suddenly very much alive. This thing is not over!!! LGI
