Pls write your niche down also so i have an overview.
I will mostly critique only these points:
- thumbnail
- pace of the video
- general idea
- what skills to improve to improve the video
Edit 1 hour later : Thanks for the input! it might take a few days but i'll just occasionally look over a few :) you can still post yours, i might just give it a quick glance and point out 1 or 2 main things i notice
post it still, i might do a speed run and just point out the main thing i notice. dont wanna leave you guys hanging
hi there,
i like about your videos that they have a good vibe (not that easy to create imo). your camera perspective/angles are carefully chosen and look really good! i think you should keep it that way.
HOOK: the first seconds are really important. while the cassette type intro is a cool idea, the black screen is not engaging enough and i found myself skipping after 2 seconds. the first 15-30 seconds decide if someone stays on your video or not, so frontload your best scenes to hook the audience. dont keep the best scenes at the end.
MUSIC: i liked the music, it made it very relaxed. what i would do is try a few scenes where you have some "action". building the tent, making fire, cooking etc and then just leave the raw sound. i think that would make it a bit more personal (if thats what you want) and also include the viewer more into your scene.
Thumbnail: check my other comment for tn advice.
COLORS: maybe boost the greens slightly. (unless your looking for the darker look, i personally would have added a bit more saturation in post)
General video ideas: i saw you have these types of chill videos in the forest and gear reviews. you have to be aware that you are attracting 2 types of audiences. they wont be the same ppl that are watching mostly (only a few that really like you). more effective would be focusing on your strongest format that you have where you know ppl are watching and post more of that stuff. but if youre having fun with both, id understand why you would want to post both.
hope that helps!
hi tierci,
i like your voice, you have a "comedic" kind of voice which fits the genre well i think. the subtitles are also cool! they help following the story.
Thumbnail: try making thumbnails that are COMPLETELY clear to the viewer, your newest thumbnail for example doesn't have subject separation (very important). dark dinosaur and dark background is a no-go. try making it "pop" by getting the dino closer or make the subject separation clear as hell but still clean (look up on yt photoshop tutorials. also leave out everything thats unclear. unclear things lead to confusion, and confusion usually leads to viewers not clicking. title and thumbnail need to be short, concise, and CLEAR AF. title could be "Smallest Dinosaur In ARK" i dunno much about ark but keep it short. possibly under 55 characters, then youtube wont cut it off. (just test it)
Overall video visuals: since its gaming, the audience is younger, so some colors might be good. tommyinnit said he purposely adds colors to the font of the text so it looks more colorful. also he has a mini transition where the text "pops" up, which looks cool and dynamic. Maybe do that too? or at least try it and see how it looks. In premiere pro you can then just copy paste the text and you dont have to do the animation every time.
Music: Maybe try use the music a bit more so the audience is hooked to the current scene. Kind of like Dream utilizes tension/chasing music to add more suspense.
Otherwise i think you're doing great, just try to improve one thing each video :) next time could be audio quality, then transitions, then colors, then text, etc etc
hope that helps!
hi trey, i think you have a very good voice and way of speaking. as you said yourself, focusing on one niche is very important. otherwise youtube will show this video to one audience, then to another, and nobody is going to click because its a completely different topic. you can only do that if you are REALLY entertaining or you already have an established audience that love you.
thumbnails: take a day and focus on only thumbnails. ive written another comment, maybe check that out, but theres also a lot of other ppl on yt that have advice.
mic: get a good mic and do some audio improvements in post (its really easy)
i think that should be enough to work on for a few weeks. hope it helps a bit.
hi,
let me pinpoint the key points ( i didnt watch the entire thing ofc but i skipped through)
HOOK: needs to be more clear. the first seconds until 30 seconds is important for the audience to know exactly whats coming up for this entire video. especially if it's that long. go straight to voiceover and explain what you're doing and why it's worth watching.
Thumbnail: make it brighter and make seagal pop out way more. maybe some shading, lights, etc. otherwise no ones gonna click
Mic: Get a really good mic, stay close to the mic (one hand distance approx) and boost it in post with some equalizer and stuff (easy tutorials on youtube, takes like 1 minute to learn)
i think thats enough for now to improve. i like your patience and passion. making a 1 hour video is not easy! maybe its worth trying shorter videos so you can learn from each video faster, but thats up to you.
hope it helps.
hi wes, you speak well, have a confident voice and seem comfortable in front of the camera. the images from the intro were really well chosen and were cool to look at. your setup is amazing and colors do fit your youtube format. id personally would remove a bit of purple on the right but thats me. your explanations seem spot on and concise.
hook: i would have combined your intro with the nice footage you had to keep the intro short. intro opening are 1:30 min, which is too long imo. try keeping it at 30 seconds or and get to the content quicker. i think your voice gaming footage sometimes you with your setup would've been a great intro.
background behind the game: the movement of the background behind the game footage is a bit distracting, i would make it move slower and maybe add a gaussian blur to make it easier to focus on the game.
title: could be shorter and dont have both [] and () in the title. hard to read
thumbnail: see my other comment on tn's
hope that helps!
awesome! i got the wireless go 1 :)
for thumbnails this is what i do:
- make a screenshot of your youtube front page
- then make your thumbnail and title and photoshop it into the image and see if your video would stand out, if it does, good, if it doesn't rethink title thumbnail until you think it has viral potential
hi,
as banana man said, good lighting can make a huge difference
also
- title and hook dont really fit somehow, go straighter to the point and explain exactly why ppl can benefit from watching
- the mastery muse intro is way too long for my taste. it feels outdated. some people have intros, but most successful youtubers dont really make intros anymore (and if so, really short ones, like 1-2 seconds max)
- improve mic quality
- thumbnail text to small and image is too dark. well lit images are better for CTR. make it pop a bit, boost colors, get closer to the camera
hope it helps a bit, im keeping it short since i dont have much time and trying to reply to everyone
hi there,
what i like most is your energy and enthusiasm. it is natural and very genuine! not many youtubers have that. they're mostly just good (or not so good) at pretending to be hyped. but you can really tell you love bleach haha i am also a fellow shinigami. you are very comfortable in front of the camera which i think is good.
things that i noticed immediately:
- LIGHTING: use a good light, it makes a TON of difference, really. well lit scenes are pleasant to the eye and make it seem way better.
- MIC: have your mic closer, so the quality is better. (and use parametric equalizer to boost the voice a bit) that can make a ton of difference too
- HOOK: try explaining the main topic of the video in 10-20 seconds to hook the audience of what comes next (possibly a compilation of all the figurines e.g.) once somebody clicks, they expect immediate satisfaction usually, so a clear and concise explanation is important
- CAMERA ANGLE: could be better i think, just experiment a bit more before you film the entire scene so you know it looks good. also your position is a bit too far on the right imo. try to be on the left third or completely in the middle.there is a lot of empty space on the left. because naturally we look from left to right, so its easier for the eye if you explain from the left. (not necessary but a bit more pleasant)
for thumbnail, check my upper comment! with the figurines, you definitely have potential to make some banger thumbnails with good subject separation
hope that helps!
what exactly do you need editing wise? an editor?
hi kori, you're a really confident speaker and your facial expressions are very likeable. your mic quality is top. your videos are concise and easily digestable.
hook: add a bit more context to the video and what its about, why youre doing this etc. for new viewers, thats a good way gain new interested viewers. can be only 3-4 sentences but it needs to tell the audience why its worth staying on your video basically.
thumbnail: look at my other comment on tn's (sometimes its a bit too much text, but some are good and had good subject separation)
title: try keeping it under 60 characters and dont use capslock twice on different positions. its hard to read.
editing: i like the minimalistic approach, not many effects, transitions etc. it fits the vlog style. you could experiment with it but i dont think its necessary.
you got great energy! hope it helps a bit.
hi there, i dont have much experience in that niche, but i will speak on the things that i think i know a bit. i think you have a good on camera personality from skimming through a few videos. it seems genuine to me, which i think a lot of youtubers lack. the bus seems to be a lot of work and i think the audience is gonna notice that in a good way.
thumbnail/title: the text is WAY to small, either completely leave it, or make it BIG. title should be short (bes is less than 55 characters, then youtube wont cut it off) otherwise you cant read it on your phone properly. if the viewer cant see things properly, the viewer wont click. you could have a pic of the van from the side with clear subject separation e.g. the ones with the blue sky are actually not too bad, just add a bit more saturation
intro: when you're explaining the intro, add some b-roll of the best footage from your vlog, that way the audience knows exactly what's coming. like a small teaser.
hope that helps a bit!
no problem, hope you get the success your seeking!
hi,
- thumbnails way too much going on in them, they seem a bit imbalanced, try making them clear, concise (same with the title, too long and hard to read)
- voice muffled
- transitions, vfx etc are ok, but they seem very cheap, also the background
hope it helps a bit, im keeping it short since i dont have much time and trying to reply to everyone
