Hi there! So I got my first copyright claim today (*cue unenthusiastic yayyyyy*) and I need advice on how to handle it. On my youtube channel I edit content from movies and tv shows to music, so I'm obviously aware that it's not mine but since I'm not monetizing it I believe it falls under fair use...there are like a bajillion video editors that do exactly this on youtube, after all.
However, today I got a copyright claim for "audiovisual content" from someone named B_Viacom, which from my limited research so far seems to be a company that...owns stuff. It also says it was filed manually. Oh, and it's blocked in 244 countries...so, everywhere. It was a video I did for a TV show "The Shannara Chronicles" which aired on MTV and then Spike, but I have no idea who owns the rights to it or if it falls under this company (edit: further research: it does -_-)
Basically I have no idea what to do. Do I dispute this claim? SHOULD I dispute it? How do I find out if it's legit? Can I upload my video on another platform (like vimeo) that way people can still see it? HELP.
(also, is this the right subreddit, or should I go to r/youtube?)
