I figured out the niche I want my Youtube channel to be on, but my subscriber base is built on something else!

Hi guys,

I have a question that I need help figuring out.

So very recently, my channel has hit over 1k subscribers. I'm now monetized. I didn't expect to get this far with my channel but I'm there now and I'm very thankful for it. Now I'm just trying to prepare for the future but I have a good idea where it's headed. After reading the guidelines on discord, I realize my conversion rate is 0.2%.

My favourite TV show is Cobra Kai and I have Cobra Kai video game content on it. I have also tried Cobra Kai theories before but have noticed they're not as popular with my subscriber base than my gaming content is. Most of my subscribers love Cobra Kai.

But now here's the problem. The series is going to come to an end within a couple of months. I am aware that the Karate Kid Legends will be coming out. Even then, Cobra Kai season 6 introduced new characters that fans love as well so I'm sure they're gonna wanna get game developers on it for the next instalment. So a couple of things I have noted about my engagement is that it seems my subs love Cobra Kai a lot more than any Karate Kid franchise. I say this because I have uploaded videos of the Karate Kid Street Rumble (a game recently released to the public this year) and those videos haven't been getting views from my subscribers as they're more engaged with Cobra Kai. But if they're mostly into Cobra Kai, the series is going to end within a couple of months, which means unless the Karate Kid Legends are good with them, my content is not gonna keep them engaged afterwords in the long-term.

So I have been thinking. There are a lot of gaming channels that are out there, some of which has covered games I do like. I realize I want my channel to be about catering to niche interest. I myself love freeflow combat mechanics (or as they call it, character action games). The examples I'm talking about are Batman Arkham, Marvel's Spiderman, Sleeping Dogs, and Sifu. Those games have very fluid combat mechanics, counter attack systems, and for some games like Sifu, offer high flexibility in combat approaches and what not. I want my content to cater to this as I see this pathway being more stable and have a more longer-term standing.

So now I'm wondering what do I do with my current subscriber base. I have watched a video that shows me Youtube features I can use to appeal to a newer audience and because of this, I'm currently unchecking the "Push to subscription feed and notify subscribers" for content that is different then what my subs usually watch. I also put tags on my Youtube channel hoping the algorithm can push my channel to those that want to watch my content.

But I'm wondering. Would the features above help even if I upload videos of games that are a decade old that still meets the purpose I want my Youtube channel to be about? There's already other Youtube channels that have already published games such as Sleeping Dogs, Marvel's Spiderman, or Sifu, but those channels upload other types of games as well, whereas I want mines to be more niche. So would it be a smart idea to upload old gaming content in conjunction with the Youtube features to help build up a new subscriber base, or would it be more worth it to wait for a new game of this flavor to come out and I put focus on that content in conjunction with using Youtube features?

Any other advice regarding my situation is also greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing your responses.
