Hey guys, I wanted to get advice on something.
So I found myself in a bit of a conundrum. I started uploading gameplay videos as a sort of hobby so I can share some of my gameplays with my friends. However, over the few years I was active, I notice my subscriber count has been increasing a lot.
At some point, I hit over 500 subscribers, which I enabled monetization. Because I haven't hit 1k subs yet, even with monetization enabled, it's not happening yet, but I am close to getting there,.
But I've done some research and it turns out you need to obtain commercial use permissions from game companies in order to monetize from their content, which I haven't done so.
Now I want to reach out to them and get commercial use permissions, but I'm not too sure how to approach this.
My situation is this, I have already uploaded gaming content. What should I do here? Should I remove my videos first (or set it to private/unlisted at the least), obtain commercial use permissions, and then re-upload them? I'm not sure how the conversation would go down if I reach out to them, they see my channel and see the videos and already uploaded, would they automatically count that as copyright infringement?
I'm not sure if anyone else have dealt with this before, but if you did, I would definitely love to hear your perspective about this as well.
