Cooking content on youtube - start-up questions

Post Body

I have forever been a massive foodie enthusiast, and regulary watch a lot of cooking content and take on my own cooking projects / teach myself to cook new and more complicated things on a frequent basis. I have been considering the possibility of doing some king of cooking on youtube or tiktok for a while now (over the last couple of years) and have recently seen a lot of smaller creators emerge through tiktok and get big.

For anyone who has experience in this kind of content creation, I would really like to know more about the specific video making process for cooking and food, as my understanding is that the camera work is different to other forms of content creation and I am aware from trying to take photos on my phone that it can be quite hard to get the right angles and especially lighting inorder to get a good shot of the food. I would be aiming for a mid budget setup to kickstart this little side hustle.

So in terms of equipment I would like advise on a camera (I think £500 is more then resonable for a 4K camera, but I don't know much about cameras). I have seen some people use a go-pro, some use a multi camera setup, some have a whole ass studio. I am considering making use of a "nice" camera, my phone camera and then maybe even a go-pro? Could offer a lot of dynamic view points without me needing to worry too much about re-positioning cameras all the time while cooking.

I would also like advise on lighting. I am not worried about audio, plenty of mic reiews out there and I have dabled in audacity before.

What other tools can I use for behind the scene? Ways on seeing what is trending, tools to help grow or make graphics for videos?

Editing software (probably a really common question, but saw nothing in the FAQ). Ideally something free but I would be willing to upgrade to a paid option eventually.

Thanks for any wisdom that may be bestowed upon me :)
