I've been an EMT for eight months now, but I never experienced something so intense before. My partner and I were driving back from an LD when we stumbled upon a car accident.
I think we did a good job looking for any bleeding and signs of shock. We were also able to give fire information on our pt, but I'm embarrassed we forgot to apply a cervical collar and hold c-spine. We also didn't cut pt’s shirt to look for bleeding.
I got tunnel vision on the pt who was complaining about 9 out of 10 chest pain, but there were two other pt’s who we didn't check out.
How do you slow down and remember the textbook stuff when it's the real deal?
Thanks for the advice
