How hard are EMT programs?
Post Body

Hello! I’m an ICU nurse and my boyfriend just signed up for a semester-long emt program at a community college. Would you guys say your programs are super challenging? Also, what kinds of things did you do during your clincials/rotations?

I’ve tried showing him some super basic skills I thought he might use, like drawing up meds from vials, but I’d appreciate any insight in case maybe I could be of any help for him. I’m ACLS certified but don’t know if he’d need anything like that with his program. He’s very excited to start in the medical field and I’m giddy for him.

Also out of pure curiosity, what is the scope of practice of an EMT? I’ve seen online how there’s a difference between EMT-B, AEMT, and paramedics as well. We’re in Florida if that helps at all

Thanks!
