I had a bad day yesterday, I was being trained on code 3 driving, and I had worked every day this week but one. So fatigue had started to set in. My first call we had a guy who code we got him to a hospital and I helped with chest compressions and he didn’t make I understood it comes with the job.
I get switched to another unit because the paramedic is needed on another unit. And I get on a unit with a Fto I like and one who just doesn’t care anymore.
The one who didn’t care rubbed me in all the wrong ways. When I was excited for the next call she’d tell me to calm down. She took every opportunity to yell at me when I made a mistake. She got mad at me because I don’t have the skills sheet memorized.
At our last the call which was 12:45 am. I had just started tuning her out.
Both ftos told me that was dangerous because they need to be able understand where’s my head at. I understand where they’re coming from. I’m a little embarrassed, I’m usually a lot better at handling difficult people.
