How does skateboarding “catch up to you”? When does it start hurting and how bad is it?

Post Body

Someone just told me that they started skating in their early 20s, and by their late 20s it “quickly caught up” to them, meaning that their body hurts as a result.

I started at 23 years old and am now 24. I wonder whether my body will start hurting too by my late 20s. I can already feel some slight pain whenever I stretch my left ankle (I skate regular). Is that normal? It’s been there since I started ollieing seriously.

I can currently do boardslides on rails, ollie up and down stuff, and do 50-50s on ledges, and a few more tricks. I hope to improve a lot in the coming years…
