I have just gotten back on a board the past few days after dealing with some serious medical stuff the past couple of months, and I decided to continue with the fresh feeling, I'd finally get into trying to skate bowls more beyond just "circling the drain" on ocassion. I was trying to drop in on one end and go up to the hoping of the other and do tricks like a rock to fakie, rock & roll, or axle stall, but unlike on flat ground when I'm pushing up to a quarter pipe and can get the full momentum, when I dropped in today I couldn't get enough momentum to reach the other equal side's coping. I know pumping always helps get more momentum to go over any kind of slope, ramp, etc., but because it's basically me dropping down and immediately going back up the other side, I don't have enough of a chance to pump. What am I doing wrong, and is there a way I should shift my body weight on the drop in to get to the other side? Do I need to drop in with more force? Thanks in advance!
