Our little one is a little over 2 months old, but was born early and in adjusted age he is 5 days old. Developmentally he is somewhere between 2 months and a newborn.
Last week he was super fussy/clingy. He started having more awake time and began hitting some major milestone like tracking things, and such. He still has a lot he isn’t hitting but I’m proud of our little dude still considering. We have him on a 3 hour feeding schedule which we aren’t allowed to change because he is a preemie and has some catching up to do in size.
This week he has been a lot less cry-ie but still clingy and feeding has gone to s***. He will eat a good 1oz, 1.5 oz. then start to get sleepy. When he was younger he would suckle in his sleep so it wasn’t an issue. Now he sometimes will but mostly won’t. The burp session in between usually put him to sleep. We have stripped him, rub his feet, blew air on his legs, talked, tickled (briefly) etc. Nothing usually helps and what we’re 30 minute feedings are not easily hour long tasks just to get another 1.5oz in him. Day or night doesn’t seem to matter. When we burp him at the end i’d say 50% of the time he becomes wide awake! (though a lot of the time he will fall back asleep in 7-15 minutes)
I don’t think he is over tired because he really only has 1-2 super awake sessions during the day for maybe 30min-1.25 hours at a time. He isn’t sick, wet and dirty diapers are all the same. Is there like a super sleepy period that happens that I didn’t know about?? I’m just worried he isn’t getting enough food, and we both are at a loss of what to do.
edit: We do have his wellness 2 month visit on Friday. So the ped will be able to check him out health wise.
