Savings Plan Advice

New dad here of a 2 week old. I've always been uptight about my savings, but now I have a LO to worry about as well. I know big banks have garbage interest rates on savings accounts, and there's no guarantee my LO will choose college one day, so I don't know that a 529 plan is right either.
I'm leaning toward 529 as I think that is the best bang for the buck.
Should I put 100% of her savings into a standard bank, 100% into a 529, or split it somewhere in the middle?
