So one of my friends had their 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport stolen from outside of my apartment (my roommate was borrowing it while we were out of town). If you see a car fitting that description with Ohio plate JNE 1633, let me (or NOPD) know! I had some stuff in there of little financial but deep personal value.
Anyway, turns out there's been a whole rash of theft related to a very stupid design flaw in 2011-2021 Kias and 2015-2021 Hyundais, and they're pretty easy to steal. Apparently it's all over the country now because it trended on social media, especially TikTok, and it seems like it's open season in a lot of places (I smell some class action lawsuits against Kia and Hyundai coming soon). I'm sure lots of folks have vulnerable cars, so probably the best thing you can do is get one of those wheel locks and hope for the best.
