My name is Michelle Wu, and I'm running for Mayor of Boston. Ask me anything!
Post Body

Hi again, Redditors! Glad to be back. My name is Michelle Wu, and I’m running for Mayor of Boston. The Boston preliminary election is coming up in just 40 days — September 14 — and our campaign is working hard to have conversations with Boston residents in every neighborhood. (Speaking of — we’d love to have you join us on the trail by phonebanking, canvassing, or sending texts!)

First, a little bit about me: I’m a Boston Public Schools mom to two boys and a daughter of immigrants. I’ve been serving as a Boston City Councilor At-Large for the past eight years and deeply believe that city government has the power to solve our biggest challenges.

There’s a lot we need to tackle together to build a Boston for everyone. City Hall needs to take urgent action to end the climate crisis, close education and childcare gaps, make public transportation affordable, and build wealth and greater opportunity in communities of color. Ending Boston’s housing crisis is also a top priority: We need a citywide plan to make housing affordable, investments in new housing, and bold action to keep families in Boston. I’m the only candidate in the race who supports rent control as a short-term solution to stabilize the cost of living.

Thank you for stopping by! I’ve got so much to share with you all today, and I can’t wait to see your questions.

Here's our verification!

On Thursday, August 5, ask me anything. From 2:30–3:30pm ET I’ll be answering your questions and sharing our community vision for Boston.

Would your administration be open to a traffic study to observe eliminating, if not reducing bike lanes, and how that may benefit the broader constituent base vs the current assumption that cutting down car lanes in favor of bike lanes will automatically switch an equal amount of commuters to bike and reduce traffic?

Also, what are your views on dirt bike gangs terrorizing streets downtown and immediate suburbs as well? Will you work to enforce the traffic and other laws that they break?
