Post Body

Im a graduate student in ancient history and i encountered recently in a historical book about Genghis Khan, the quote of a Persian chronicler- Ata Malik Juvayni, about his life which summarise perfectly the Law: Genghis Khan invented himself from the pages of his own mind.

A couple of interesting facts from his tormented beginnigs: his father died, poisoned by an enemy clan, when he was a little boy. After that, his family was left to die in the steppe. For a period of time he was enslaved, waiting to be executed by his father enemy from his own clan. He escaped, and returned to his family, who were living like pariah of the steppe, they were wild even for the low standards of living of the steppe. When he was 17 or so, he went to take his promised wife home, but, after a short period of time, an enemy clan, in a vendetta, stole his bride. He could easily take another wife, or kidnap - the life in the steppe was very harsh, but instead he choose to fight for her. He started a war for Borte, aided with troops by his blood brother Jamukha, in which he won. After that, being a skilled warrior, he was fighting with success for a big lord of the steppe. This was no seen with good eyes by Jamukha who had his own political plans, to be a ruler of the steppe (khan) himself. Soon, these two blood brothers were at war. Challenged by Jamukha, who had aristocratic background, more men, a bigger army, he was obliged to form his own group of supporters and to fight for his life. He won and pardoned his foe, a remarkable gesture for the society of his time. If Jamukha would have won, he would not hesitate to kill Temudjin (his personal name).

If you like to know more about the genius of Genghis Khan, you could read Jack Wheatherfort, Genghis Khan and the making of the modern world, available for download on Library Genesis, watch the movie Mongol or listen to some music. I, personally, recommend this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcDYB691sM4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4CIh_Lx8SY

P.S. Sorry for my english, is not my mother tongue.
