Warning: Long post ahead.
My original SW build was from around Mod 7-8, back when soulbinder pre-nerf Tyrannical was a solid, easy DPS option, and bonding procs stacked at a crazy rate with the right companion (hence the legendary Zhentarim Warlock).
Since then a lot of that has changed and my fury soulbinder build doesn’t work as well — Tyrannical is still solid, but not nearly as OP, I’m not hitting 100% crit with bondings, and even if I was my nerfed Lostmauth set is terribly outdated. I started playing again recently (Chult and Barovia are fun!) and switched to a Templock build based heavily on a guide I found on MMOminds. It’s performing well enough — fantastic for soloing, and crazy healing for groups — but nowhere near the DPS I used to have. I don’t expect to be at the top of dungeon damage charts again... but I recently ran mSP and was 3rd, after the CW and OP, and only just ahead of the DC who was around my IL (with Stronghold boons — so basically ~1k below me). I should probably be outdamaging OPs, right?
Here's my character setup, including gear/mounts/companions/active companions/usual powers.
Missing all/most boons from: STK (only have 1), Cloaked Ascendency, Chult, and Ravenloft (have 1). Also missing 2/4 elemental evil boons and the final Tiamat boon. My guild is basically empty now, and never completed any boons, so I don’t have guild boons either. Not going to post all the boons I picked because they’re pretty much exactly what you’d expect.
Weapon abilities: Hand of Blight & nothing (7 unlocked, all useless)
Companion enchantments:
Offensive: Azure 11, Brutal 10, Brutal 11
Defensive: Dark 10, Dark 10, Radiant 11
Main character enchantments:
Transcendent Vorpal, Moderate Soul-forged
Offensive: Azure 9, Azure 10 x4, Radiant 10, Black Ice 10
Defensive: Savage 8, Radiant 9 x3, Azure 9
Other equipment:
Full elemental Drowcraft set
Hexweaver’s set
Artifacts available:
Thayan Book of the Dead (unbound)
Shard of Valindra’s Crown (unbound)
Emblem of the Seldarine (unbound)
SW Sigil (legendary)
Heart of the Red Dragon (epic)
Wheel of Elements (epic)
All class sigils
~4k tarmalune trade bars
Companions available: (along with a pile of uncommons, probably all bad)
Vistani Wanderer, Cockatrice, Black Dragon Ioun Stone (all epic)
Grazilaxx, Dancing Blade, War Dog, Wererate Thief (rare)
Resources:
800k AD
950 zen
~3000 leadership boxes, ~150 QM coffers, ~50 invoke coffers to open during x2 RP
3x Coalescent wards (BtA)
4x Coalescent wards (unbound)
98x Preservation wards (unbound)
Bonding Stone R9, assorted R8 enchants/runes, big old pile of R7s.
6x GMOP, 15x superior enchanting stone (no ultimates)
36 companion upgrade tokens
So TL;DR, what should I be focusing on gear-wise? With bondings I'm hitting 96% resistance ignored but only 82% critical chance and 90% damage dealt/healed. From what I gather, I should probably:
- Buy Chultan Tiger, make it Legendary (~2.2million AD)
- Get Orcus set, make it legendary/mythic (~1.5million AD)
- Get rid of Vorpal for Feytouched (a lot of AD)
... but I'm not sure what order, or if that's even efficient, since all of those are quite expensive. Maybe I'd be better served working on leveling enchantments first? Any SWs out there with other advice I might be missing? Potential low-hanging hunt items, cheap purchasable stuff, is there some awesome setup that makes Fury Soulbinder top DPS and everyone has just been lying to me, etc.? Any advice appreciated!
