I have an AT&T fiber modem and router combo and it forces the 2.4 and 5ghz bands to be named the same and have the same password. I changed them and the device forced them to take the name of the 5ghz band. So when looking for a WiFi network to connect to, you just see one option instead of two, like normal. Guessing they did it to make people think they have better 5ghz coverage than they do, idk.
Question is, if I add an AP somewhere in the home, will it give me the option to choose between the 2 bands, or will I still just the one option like I do now? It's not the end of the world but I have some devices that will only work with the 2.4 band. I'm not going to buy newer versions of them if I can't get this to work lol. They're probably spying on me anyway.
Thanks in advance 🙏
