8 years and still struggling
Post Body

I’ve been living here for 8 years now. I even took the language exams and integrated. However, I am still struggling big time with language and blending into the society. This is a big concern for my future since I want to have a family here and set this place as my home. But if I don’t have a community, I cannot really call it home. Are there other expats feeling the same way? What’s a way around this. Maybe there is no way around it and I should find another place to settle in. Really feeling lost about it. Advice is welcome.

Edit: I appreciate all the comments and advice. Thanks guys. I see many of us are struggling with loneliness some way or another. Obviously I haven’t been a plant for 8 years. I had done plenty of social activities. Especially in my uni years. But I’ll keep it positive and try to seek more opportunities while being open to moving somewhere else. And yes I’m an immigrant.

Our language is ridiculous. I'm native and exposed to the language for 35 years and i still get corrected by snobs on reddit. Definitely don't strife for any perfection.

As for community, i haven't found one since moving 7 years ago, but you should be able to find some for hobbies if you proactively search.
