Last weekend I created a bot called streamutt to check where movies and tv shows are available according to UNOGs.
I since then PM'd the two mods here to make it an approved submitter in order for the bot to not be rate limited on posts. I haven't heard back since Monday so I decided I'd post about it already.
What is Rate Limited?
Reddit imposes some restrictions on new accounts and accounts with low karma, which since the bot is a fresh new account, means that it falls under those restrictions.
All it means is that it will either take longer for the bot to reply to your request or it just simply won't be able to. I haven't run a lot of tests.
How to use it?
I'm going to post a couple example on the comments here. All you gotta do pretty much is mention the bot, the name of the movie or tv show. Like this but without spaces on the /u/ :
/ u /streamutt [movie or tv show] [modifier]
The only modifier available right now is -tv for when you're searching for a tv show.
Why did you do this?
I created an App called Streamutt, so I had most of the infrastructure available already :)
/u/streamutt League -tv
/u/streamutt White Collar -tv
/u/streamutt mononoke
/u/streamutt client list -tv
/u/streamutt Catch Me If You Can
/u/streamutt Lost in Translation
/u/streamutt Supernatural -tv
/u/streamutt Mentalist -tv
Nice! Didn't know they had it on Netflix.
/u/streamutt -tv Supernatural
/u/streamutt species
