Wanting to make sure Nest 3rd Gen Learning really isn't compatible with my system before I part with it.

Post Body

So, I bought a mid-1950's home last year that had a huge air/heat until outside that ran on electricity and gas for heat. One of the first things I did was disconnect the gas, as the HVAC unit was the only thing using it. I had a new Ruud unit installed that was fully electric (I can give details if needed). When my installers were trying to put in the Nest, they were having trouble with the Em Heat control with the Nest and ultimately told me it wasn't compatible. A previous handyman had mounted it and wired it so that when the new unit was installed it would work. Well, the HVAC installers said he did it wrong.

Now, my house has a sealed up whole house fan unit that sits in the same small hallway as the Honeywell thermostat I have now. I have a feeling my attic has poor ventilation, as sometimes the heat comes down. That hallway is easily the hottest room in the house. I have to keep my cool setting on 78 to keep the unit from running 24/7. I have a feeling it's only going to get worse as it gets hotter. I had the sensors that I hoped to use to combat this. I really just want to know if I have any hope of installing the Nest or if I should admit the defeat and sell it.

My house has Y, G, C, O/B, AUX (W2) and R wires. Can I get the Nest to work with this, and is it something I could do, or should I call another professional?
